Caring for your Belle Vie products
A little care goes a long way. Here's everything you need to know to get the most from your handmade products.
Cold-Process Soaps
Our cold-process soaps are made with natural oils and take 4–6 weeks to cure before they reach you. They're gentle, long-lasting, and full of natural glycerin.
- Keep your soap dry between uses. A well-drained soap dish makes a big difference to how long your bar lasts.
- Avoid leaving soap sitting in water — this will cause it to soften and dissolve more quickly.
- Store unused bars in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. They'll keep for up to 12 months.
- Natural soaps may develop a light white coating (called 'soda ash') — this is completely harmless and can be rinsed away.
- Patch test on a small area of skin before first use, especially if you have sensitive skin.
Scented Candles
Our hand-poured candles are made with natural wax and carefully blended fragrances. Follow these simple steps for the best burn and the longest life.
- On the first burn, allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the container. This prevents tunnelling and ensures an even burn throughout the candle's life.
- Trim the wick to approximately 5mm before each burn. This reduces soot and helps the candle burn cleanly.
- Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting.
- Keep away from draughts, which can cause uneven burning and excessive flickering.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials.
- Stop burning when approximately 1cm of wax remains at the bottom of the container.
Gel Melts
Our gel melts are designed for use in electric or tea-light wax burners. They release fragrance gently and last longer than traditional wax melts.
- Use in a wax burner with a dish large enough to hold the melt. Do not overfill.
- Gel melts can be reused — simply allow to cool and solidify, then reheat when you'd like fragrance again.
- Discard when the fragrance has faded and the gel appears clear.
- Never leave a burning tea-light unattended. Keep away from children and pets.
- Store unused melts in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the fragrance.
Aroma Stones
Aroma stones are porous ceramic pieces that absorb and slowly release fragrance oil without any heat. They're perfect for wardrobes, drawers, bathrooms and cars.
- Add 3–5 drops of your favourite essential oil or fragrance oil directly onto the stone.
- Fragrance will release gently over several days. Refresh with more oil when the scent fades.
- Avoid getting the stone wet — this can affect the porosity and reduce its ability to hold fragrance.
- Store in a dry place when not in use. Aroma stones will last indefinitely with proper care.
Worry Stones
Our worry stones are handmade and designed to be held, carried, and used. They're made to be touched — so don't be afraid to use them.
- Hold the stone in your palm and rub your thumb across the smooth surface when you feel anxious or need a moment of calm.
- Carry your worry stone in a pocket or bag so it's always to hand.
- Each stone is unique — slight variations in colour, texture and shape are part of what makes it yours.
- Clean gently with a soft damp cloth if needed. Avoid harsh chemicals or prolonged soaking.
Handmade Concrete Gifts
Our concrete pieces are handmade and hand-finished. Each one is unique, and the natural variations in colour and texture are part of their character.
- Concrete is porous — avoid prolonged contact with water or liquids, which can cause staining.
- Wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not submerge in water.
- Handle with care — concrete can chip if dropped on hard surfaces.
- Slight colour variations and surface marks are natural characteristics of handmade concrete, not defects.
